Cobalt seems shocked. Thus ends part 1 of the Epilogue, finally putting us on the home stretch of this story.

On a sadder note, this is the final page produced by my friend Tanabata Usagi before her untimely death due to Covid last month. She was a singular talent with many comics and creations and satisfied commissioners to her name, and all at the age of 23. One of the things that struck me after I found her was how much her style reminded me of the aesthetic I always wanted for Starship Moonhawk. It’s that late 80s to early 90s aesthetic similar to Johji Manabe, creator of Caravan Kidd and Outlanders. At the very least, we were able to work together and complete a full scene. Not only that, but she completed the climactic battle between Admiral Cobalt and Torrance Colson, which is nothing to sneeze at. Especially since I was able to hand over the script with minimal prep and she just rolled with it. She was gifted, skilled, speedy, and a singular talent. And on top of all that, she was an amazing personality to work with. Always bright and kind. I’m grateful to have met and worked with her. And more than a little bitter that our time together was so fleeting. She will be succeeded, but not replaced. May the wind be ever at your back, Usagi. Wherever you are now.
